Abstract
This article explores the critical role of private universities in building a prosperous nation by expanding access to higher education and developing human capital. The author argues that while public universities are heavily subsidized, they cannot accommodate the growing number of meritorious students, particularly those from middle-class or less solvent families. Private universities bridge this gap by offering diverse programs in science, technology, and business, often providing merit-based scholarships and stipends to 20-25% of their students to ensure equal opportunities. The piece concludes that a research-based, equitable education system involving both sectors is essential for achieving national economic self-sufficiency and producing a skilled workforce capable of meeting modern global demands.
