Does corruption responsible for economic growth? A Long run case study in Bangladesh

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between corruption and economic growth in Bangladesh, motivated by the country's significant corruption challenges. With Bangladesh ranking 14th among the most corrupt countries according to the Global Corruption Perception Index 2019, understanding this relationship is crucial. The research aims to assess the current status of corruption and its effects on economic growth, providing valuable insights for future researchers in Economics and Finance. It also seeks to raise awareness about corruption's impact on the economy, highlighting the need for measures to mitigate corruption. Ultimately, the findings of this study are expected to benefit society and assist the government in reducing corruption, fostering a more conducive environment for economic development.
