Abstract
In the post-LPG (Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization) era and Information
Technology (IT) era, transformation in Bangladesh banks is taking place with different
parameters and the contours of banking services are dynamically altering the face of banking,
as banks are stepping towards e-banking from traditional banking. E-Banking is one of the
gifts to human beings by computer technology. E-Banking is a fast spreading service that
allows customers to use computer to access account transactions from a remote location such
as at home or at the workplace Convenience to customers. Electronic Fund Transfer,
Telephone Banking, Corporate Banking Terminal, Increasing networking and ATM,
Telephone Banking, Internet-Banking and mobile- Banking are some of the e-banking
products which would be conveniently satisfying customers. This paper reveals the current
situation of E-banking in Bangladesh and the impact of E-banking on banking activities. The
new challenges of E-banking are to develop and apply policy from the perspectives of society,
banks, and regulatory authorities as like as government are addressed in the study.
