Nowadays, reverse osmosis (RO) is a popular process in the world to filter seawater and wastewater. It is a process of producing potable water from polluted or saline water by forcing the water under pressure using a semipermeable membrane. The RO membrane allows only smaller particles to pass freely through the tiny holes such as solvent molecules, however, rejects large molecules, ions, salts, and other dissolved elements and impurities. It can also remove other common organics like Humic and Fulvic acids. It is a final barrier to remove dissolved species and ionic constituents. It is well-known for the production of drinking water [7,8]. The promising applications and concerns of RO process are discussed.
