In this article, Prof. Dr. M. Azizur Rahman analyzes the global phenomenon of climate change and its disproportionate impact on Bangladesh. The author posits that while rapid industrialization in developed nations is a primary driver of rising temperatures and sea levels, non-industrialized nations like Bangladesh suffer the most severe consequences, including frequent floods, cyclones, and river erosion. He highlights internal challenges such as high population density and continuous deforestation, noting that forestation in Bangladesh has fallen below 25%. Rahman argues that developing countries are entitled to claim compensation from industrialized nations for these environmental damages. The article calls for urgent measures, including increasing the height of coastal embankments and seeking effective international aid through the United Nations to maintain ecological balance.
