Abstract

Uttara University has signed 22 memoranda of understanding with universities across Asia and Africa, marking a major step in its internationalisation efforts. The agreements were signed during the Fifth Annual Global Sustainable Development Congress 2026, organised by Times Higher Education and held from 22 to 25 June at the Indonesia Convention Center in Jakarta. The global congress brought together university leaders, policymakers, researchers and industry experts from around the world to explore how higher education can accelerate sustainable development and strengthen international collaboration. Abid Aziz, Member of the Board of Trustees of Uttara University, and Sheikh Yasha Shan, Director of the Office of the Institutional Ranking Cell, represented the university at the four-day event. Through high-level meetings, strategic networking sessions and academic engagements, the university established partnerships with 22 internationally recognised institutions across Indonesia, the Philippines and South Africa.
